I am in a bad mood so please
excuse me if I say what I mean. Is such
truth mean? This voice—yuk—
I want nothing to do with it. But I don’t want it stuck in my head
either—I’m not
sure why I’m chasing it—it has passed since I last heard it
doing the laundry; and I myself
have never said “laundry” in my life
until now: a whole poem to clean up my act—
so crass. Though I was in a bad mood—
what did I want
to say? It keeps changing, all of it—
you must know what it comes out in, or down
to: that we don’t know anything
but that’s very hard to say: something
is getting away
with itself. And it’s come out
in the wash very badly indeed.
